Vilma Contreras earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Master’s Degree from Cal Lutheran University. She specializes in Organizational Development and Capacity Building and has over 29 years’ experience in management and the non-profit sector. At the age of 15 she was a part of an intergenerational project helping seniors in her community.

When asked what drew her to Community Partners in Caring: “My father lived with Dementia for many years. Advocating for him opened my eyes to what is important in life and what isn’t. Our elders are important. They are valuable members of our community and I believe they should be able to access basic needs, such as food, medical care, preventive care, and be able to maintain healthy human connections regardless of family, social or economic circumstance. That’s what this agency does.”

Hobbies: Vilma loves to hike, is an amateur photographer, and writer. She’s also a member of the National Aging in Place Council and the National Volunteer Caregiver Network’s (NVCN) Ambassador for the Western part of the United States.
